Sañjaya said: “O Pārtha, seeing my left wheel sunk into the earth by the force of fate, abandon this cowardly, deceitful stratagem. Act openly, as befits a warrior, and do not take advantage of this mishap.”
संजय उवाच
The verse frames a battlefield ethic: do not exploit an opponent’s misfortune caused by fate; abandoning deceitful advantage is presented as the honorable, kṣatriya-appropriate course.
In the midst of combat, a chariot’s left wheel is seen stuck in the earth due to destiny; the speaker addresses Pārtha (Arjuna), urging him to give up any cowardly, deceptive plan and fight straightforwardly.
