तस्य ज्याछेदनं कर्णो ज्यावधानं च संयुगे । नान्वबुध्यत व पलक भवत्
tasya jyācchedanaṃ karṇo jyāvadhānaṃ ca saṃyuge | nānvabudhyata vai palakabhavat ||
Sañjaya said: In the thick of battle, Arjuna’s bowstring would be cut and then instantly re-strung—so swiftly that even Karṇa could not perceive it. It was a wondrous occurrence on the battlefield, displaying Arjuna’s extraordinary mastery and presence of mind amid war.
संजय उवाच
Even amid violent conflict, mastery is shown not only by force but by composure, precision, and instantaneous recovery. The verse highlights disciplined skill and alertness as decisive virtues in action.
During the battle, Arjuna’s bowstring is severed, yet he re-strings it so quickly that Karṇa cannot even register the moment of replacement; Sañjaya presents this as an astonishing feat.
