शराभिघाताच्च रुषा च राजन् स्वया च भासास्त्रसमीरणाच्च । जज्वाल कर्णस्य सुतो$तिमात्र- मिद्धो यथा5<5ज्याहुतिभि्ुताश:,राजन! जैसे घीकी आहुति पड़नेसे अग्नि अत्यन्त प्रज्वलित हो उठती है, उसी प्रकार कर्णका पुत्र बाणोंके प्रहारसे अपनी प्रभासे, अस्त्रोंके प्रयोगसे और रोषसे जल उठा। उसने नकुलके सब घोड़ोंको, जो वनायु देशमें उत्पन्न, श्वेतवर्ण, तीव्रगामी और सोनेकी जालीसे आच्छादित थे, अपने अस्त्रोंद्वारा काट डाला

Sañjaya said: O King, struck by volleys of arrows and inflamed by wrath—fanned further by the blaze of his own splendor and by the driving force of weapon-spells—Karna’s son flared up exceedingly, like a fire kindled high by offerings of ghee.
