इत्यन्तरिक्षे शतश्‌ड्रमूर्श्नि तपस्विनां शृण्वतां वागुवाच । एवंविधं तच्च नाभूत्‌ तथा च देवापि नूनमनृतं वदन्ति

Translation

Sañjaya said: “Thus, on the summit of Śataśṛṅga, while great ascetics listened, a voice from the sky spoke those words. Yet that utterance did not come to pass; surely even the gods, at times, speak what is untrue.”
