Arjuna Checks Droṇaputra; Karṇa Advances
तस्य चापतत:ः शीघ्रं वृषसेनस्य सात्यकि:
tasya cāpatataḥ śīghraṃ vṛṣasenasyātyakiḥ
Sañjaya said: As Vṛṣasena swiftly charged in, Sātyaki at once moved to meet his onrush—an immediate counter in the heat of battle, where alertness and resolve decide life and death.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the kṣatriya ethic of vigilance and prompt response in battle: when an opponent charges, hesitation can endanger one’s side; readiness and decisive action are treated as virtues within the war-code.
Sañjaya reports that Vṛṣasena rushes forward to attack, and Sātyaki immediately responds—setting up or continuing a direct clash between the two warriors.
