कर्णभीमसमागमः | Karṇa–Bhīma Encounter
त्वत्कृते पदवीं गन्तुमिच्छेयं युधि मारिष । सोदराणां च वीराणां सर्वेषां च महीक्षिताम्
tvatkṛte padavīṃ gantum iccheyaṃ yudhi māriṣa | sodarāṇāṃ ca vīrāṇāṃ sarveṣāṃ ca mahīkṣitām ||
Sañjaya said: “For your sake, O venerable one, I would wish to go to that very end on the battlefield—even to the fate that befalls one’s own brothers, and indeed all those heroic kings.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the intensity of personal loyalty and willingness to share another’s peril in war, while also evoking the tragic ethical weight of fratricidal conflict where even brothers and many kings meet the same fatal ‘path’ on the battlefield.
Sañjaya speaks to a respected listener, declaring that for the listener’s sake he would be willing to go to the same battlefield destiny that has overtaken (or will overtake) heroic brothers and numerous kings—underscoring the scale of loss and the speaker’s devotion.
