Sañjaya said: “O mighty-armed one, do not dishonor Vaikartana Karṇa on the battlefield. He is the foremost among all who bear weapons, and a learned master who has crossed to the far shore of the meanings of all the treatises.”

Even amid war, ethical restraint in speech matters: a worthy opponent should not be demeaned. True kṣatriya conduct honors valor and learning, recognizing excellence rather than indulging in contempt.
Sañjaya reports a warning/admonition addressed to a mighty warrior: in the heat of battle, he should not insult Karṇa (Vaikartana). Karṇa is described as preeminent among weapon-bearers and as a master of the meanings of the śāstras.
