Vaiśampāyana said: “The wholesome counsels spoken by Vidura, Droṇa, Gāṅgeya (Bhīṣma), and Keśava (Kṛṣṇa) were not accepted by you. Now, recalling those unheeded words again and again, do you not feel anguish?”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Ignoring well-meant counsel from the wise leads to later remorse; ethical discernment requires accepting beneficial advice before consequences harden into suffering.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana points to earlier warnings given by Vidura, Droṇa, Bhīṣma, and Kṛṣṇa, and asks whether the addressee now suffers anguish upon remembering that those counsels were rejected.
