समेत्य तु महासेने चक्रतुर्वेगमुत्तमम् । जाह्नवीयमुने नद्यौ प्रावषीवोल्बणोदके,वे दोनों विशाल सेनाएँ परस्पर भिड़कर विजयके लिये बड़े वेगसे आगे बढ़नेका प्रयत्न करने लगीं; मानो वर्षा-ऋतुमें जलकी बाढ़ आनेसे बड़ी हुई गंगा और यमुना दोनों नदियाँ बड़े वेगसे मिल रही हों
Translation
Sañjaya said: The two great armies met and collided, striving to surge forward with tremendous speed for victory—like the Gaṅgā and Yamunā, swollen in the rainy season, rushing together in a fierce confluence.
