Sañjaya said: Then, O King, Jaya, and Kṛtavarmā of the Sātvata line, and the Kāmboja ruler, and Śrutāyus—coming face to face—checked Dhanañjaya (Arjuna).
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights a battlefield ethic and reality: even a supremely capable warrior can be checked when opponents act in concert. It underscores kṣatriya resolve and strategic duty—resisting a powerful adversary is part of one’s pledged role in war, regardless of the opponent’s fame.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that several Kaurava-side fighters—Jaya, Kṛtavarmā, the Kāmboja leader, and Śrutāyus—advance together and block Arjuna’s progress, attempting to halt his charge in the ongoing battle.
