Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: “When that vanguard of the army had been shattered and was being cut down by the diadem-wearing Arjuna, which heroes there, on the battlefield, advanced to confront Dhanañjaya?”
धृतराष्ट उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical pressure of kṣatriya-dharma in war: when a force collapses under a superior warrior, responsibility shifts to other leaders to step forward. It frames valor and accountability as responses to crisis, not merely aggression.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra asks Sañjaya to identify which Kaurava warriors advanced to face Arjuna after Arjuna (the diadem-wearer) had routed and was cutting down the army’s vanguard.
