Dhṛtarāṣṭra–Sañjaya Dialogue: Praise of the Host and Inquiry after the Breach
śūrāṇāṁ garjatāṁ rājan saṁkruddhānām amarṣiṇām | śrūyante samagirakṣitrāḥ parasparavadha-eṣiṇām ||
Sañjaya said: O King, from those heroic warriors—roaring in fury, intolerant of restraint, and intent on one another’s death—there arose a tumult of many voices, strange and varied, heard on every side.

The verse highlights how unchecked anger and the desire to kill distort human speech and conduct into chaotic, harsh noise—an ethical warning that wrath (krodha) and intolerance (amarṣa) drive people away from discernment and dharma.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra the battlefield atmosphere: enraged warriors are roaring and shouting, and a confused, many-voiced clamor is heard as they press forward with mutual intent to slay.
