धृतराष्ट उवाच
The verse highlights how collective sounds—songs from many regions—become a significant sign within a war narrative, reflecting a ruler’s concern with interpreting public expressions and possible omens amid moral and political crisis.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra questions Sañjaya about a particular sound: a resonance produced by songs coming from diverse places, implying a noteworthy occurrence in the battlefield setting that prompts inquiry and interpretation.
