द्रोणपर्व — अध्याय ८७: सात्यकेरनुयात्रा

Sātyaki’s resolve and departure to reach Arjuna

नृत्यतां श्रूयते तात गणानां सोउद्य न स्वनः । विन्द और अनुविन्दके शिविरमें संध्याके समय जो महान्‌ शब्द सुनायी पड़ता था, वह अब नहीं सुननेमें आता है। तात सदा आनन्दित रहनेवाले केकयोंके भवनोंमें झुंड-के-झुंड नर्तकोंका ताल स्वरके साथ गीतका जो महान्‌ शब्द सुनायी पड़ता था, वह अब नहीं सुना जाता है

dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca | nṛtyatāṃ śrūyate tāta gaṇānāṃ sa udyan na svanaḥ |

Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: “Dear son, that once-uplifting sound—the rhythmic clamour of troupes of dancers—no longer seems to be heard. The great evening din that used to rise from the camp of Vinda and Anuvinda, and the loud, time-keeping songs in the houses of the ever-joyful Kekayas, have fallen silent.”
