Sātyaki’s Assurance and the Protection of Dharmarāja (सात्यकिवचनम्—धर्मराजरक्षणविचारः)
मय्यपेक्षा न कर्तव्या कथंचिदपि सात्वत । राजन्येव परा गुप्ति: कार्या सर्वात्मना त्वया,'सात्वतवीर! तुम किसी प्रकार भी मेरा अनुसरण न करना। तुम्हें सब प्रकारसे राजा युधिष्ठिरकी ही पूर्णरूपसे रक्षा करनी चाहिये
mayy apekṣā na kartavyā kathaṃcid api sātvatā | rājany eva parā guptiḥ kāryā sarvātmanā tvayā ||
Sañjaya said: “O Sātvata hero, you must not, in any way, look to me or follow after me. Your highest duty is this alone: with your whole being, you must ensure the complete protection of King Yudhiṣṭhira.”
संजय उवाच
In crisis, dharma requires clear prioritization: personal attachment or deference must not distract from the supreme obligation—protecting the rightful king and the moral center of the cause, here Yudhiṣṭhira.
Sañjaya addresses a Sātvata hero, instructing him not to follow or rely on Sañjaya, but to devote himself entirely to safeguarding King Yudhiṣṭhira, emphasizing strategic focus and duty amid the battle context of Droṇa Parva.
