ततोडर्जुनगृहं गत्वा वासुदेव: सुदुर्मना: । भगिनीं पुत्रशोकार्तामाश्वचासयत दुःखिताम्,तब भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण अत्यन्त उदास मनसे अर्जुनके शिविरमें गये और पुत्रशोकसे पीड़ित हुई अपनी दुखिया बहिनको आश्वासन देने लगे
tato 'rjunagṛhaṃ gatvā vāsudevaḥ sudurmanāḥ | bhaginīṃ putraśokārtām āśvāsayata duḥkhitām ||
Sañjaya said: Then Vāsudeva, heavy with sorrow, went to Arjuna’s quarters. There he sought to console his sister, who was afflicted by grief for her son and overwhelmed with distress. In the midst of war’s harsh consequences, Kṛṣṇa’s act underscores a dharmic duty: to steady the bereaved, to speak words that restore courage and moral clarity when personal loss threatens to break one’s resolve.
संजय उवाच
Even amid righteous conflict, dharma includes compassionate responsibility: one should support the grief-stricken, offer reassurance, and help them regain steadiness so that sorrow does not lead to despair or unethical action.
After a grievous loss (implied by the phrase ‘afflicted by grief for her son’), Kṛṣṇa goes to Arjuna’s camp quarters and begins consoling his sister, who is overwhelmed by mourning.
