Educational Q&A

In the midst of war, the verse foregrounds the ethical weight of granting ‘abhaya’—assurance of safety—when someone seeks refuge or protection, and it appeals to the kṣatriya ideal of shielding the vulnerable under one’s care.

Sañjaya addresses powerful kṣatriya heroes, emphasizing their ability to counter weapons, and asks them to protect him and grant him safety because Arjuna (Pārtha) has been urged on against him and his life is in danger.
