Abhimanyu’s Fall and the Battlefield Aftermath

तस्य द्रोणो$च्छिनन्मुष्टी खड्गं मणिमयत्सरुम्‌

tasya droṇo 'cchinan muṣṭī khaḍgaṃ maṇimayat-sarum

Sañjaya said: Droṇa struck him down—severing his clenched fist—and cut away the sword whose hilt was adorned with gems. In the brutal ethics of battlefield duty, the teacher-warrior disables the opponent’s weapon-bearing hand, ending the immediate threat with decisive force.
