Sañjaya said: “O King, eager to accomplish their purpose, the Pandava warriors—having marshalled their forces in battle-array and ready to strike—rushed forward together. Intent on protecting Abhimanyu, his uncles and kinsmen advanced to enter the enemy formation by the very opening he had made, driven by duty to rescue their own and by the moral urgency of not abandoning a valiant youth in peril.”

In the midst of war, dharma is expressed as responsibility: the warriors do not treat strategy as mere conquest but as a means to protect a vulnerable ally/kinsman. The verse highlights readiness to act decisively for protection and solidarity, even under extreme danger.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the Pandava leaders and allied kings, with their troops arranged in formation, surge forward to enter the enemy’s battle-array through the opening created by Abhimanyu, aiming to reach and protect him.
