Sañjaya said: Eager to achieve their aim, the warriors—having their troops drawn up in battle-array and ready to strike—charged forward. In the narrative context, this surge is not mere aggression: it is a coordinated, duty-driven attempt by the Pāṇḍava side to break into the hostile formation and protect Abhimanyu, showing how dharma in war often appears as disciplined collective action under extreme moral pressure.

Educational Q&A

Even amid violence, dharma expresses itself as disciplined purpose: warriors act not as a mob but as an organized force seeking a morally charged aim—here, the protection of a vulnerable ally/kinsman and the fulfillment of battlefield duty through coordinated effort.

Sañjaya describes the Pāṇḍava champions and allied kings charging forward with their troops arranged in formation, intent on striking and pushing into the enemy’s battle-array—specifically to enter by the same path used earlier and to safeguard Abhimanyu within the hostile formation.
