Sañjaya said: The exceedingly mighty son of Bhāradvāja (Droṇa), unshaken and free from panic, checked those warriors who had come close by showering them with a great torrent of arrows, thereby halting their advance.

The verse foregrounds asambhrānti—steadiness and clarity under pressure. In a dharma-framed battle, effective action is rooted in self-control: the warrior who does not panic can apply force precisely to restrain and protect his side.
As the opposing warriors draw near, Droṇa—described as extraordinarily powerful—remains unshaken and stops their forward movement by unleashing a dense, powerful volley of arrows.
