शरौघाञ्छरजालेन विदुधाव धनंजय: । प्रजवलित बाणसमूह तथा देदीप्यमान धनुष धारण करनेवाले कर्णके उन बाणसमूहोंको अर्जुनने अपने बाणोंके समुदायद्वारा छिन्न-भिन्न कर दिया
śaraughān śarajālena vidudhāva dhanañjayaḥ | prajvalita-bāṇa-samūhaṃ tathā dedīpyamāna-dhanuṣ-dhāriṇaḥ karṇasya bāṇa-samūhān arjunena sva-śara-samūhair chinna-bhinnāḥ kṛtāḥ |
Sañjaya said: Dhanañjaya (Arjuna), with a net of arrows, shattered the onrushing volleys of shafts. The blazing clusters of missiles released by Karṇa—he who bore a radiant bow—were cut to pieces and scattered by Arjuna’s own concentrated flights of arrows.
संजय उवाच
Even amid violent conflict, the epic highlights disciplined mastery and steadiness: force is met not by panic but by trained focus and measured response, reflecting the warrior’s duty (kṣatriya-dharma) to stand firm and protect one’s cause.
Sañjaya describes a moment in the Arjuna–Karṇa battle where Karṇa releases fierce, blazing volleys; Arjuna counters with a dense ‘net’ of arrows that cuts and disperses Karṇa’s missiles mid-flight.
