Sañjaya said: Seeing his two brothers slain, Śakuni—skilled in deploying hundreds of deceptive stratagems—cast an illusion to bewilder Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna.

The verse contrasts righteous warfare with deceptive manipulation: when driven by sorrow and revenge, a person may resort to māyā (delusion/illusion), signaling a slide toward adharma and moral confusion even amid a dharma-yuddha setting.
After Śakuni sees his two brothers killed, he retaliates by using his expertise in deceptive tactics, casting an illusion intended to confuse Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna on the battlefield.
