Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 29 — Arjuna’s defeat of Vṛṣaka–Acalā and the neutralization of Śakuni’s māyā

देववाक्यात्‌ प्रचिच्छेद शरेण भृशमर्जुन: । छिन्नमात्रें3शुके तस्मिन्‌ रुद्धनेत्रो बभूव सः:

Transliteration

devavākyāt praciccheda śareṇa bhṛśam arjunaḥ | chinnamātreṃśuke tasmin ruddhanetro babhūva saḥ ||

Translation

Sañjaya said: At the sound of that divine-sounding proclamation, Arjuna swiftly and with great force cut it down with an arrow. The instant the banner was severed, the foe became like one whose sight was blocked—his vision and confidence checked before Arjuna’s decisive prowess amid the dharmic pressure of battle.
