Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: “O Sañjaya, tell me how—when the sons of Pāṇḍu returned again to the battlefield—there occurred a most dreadful clash between them and what remained of my army.”
धृतराष्ट उवाच
The verse highlights the moral and psychological cost of adharma-driven war: Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s focus on ‘my remaining army’ reveals attachment and fear, while the ‘most dreadful clash’ underscores how conflict escalates when pride and possessiveness persist despite mounting loss.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra questions Sañjaya about the moment when the Pāṇḍavas re-enter the battlefield and engage the surviving Kaurava forces, asking for an account of how that fierce confrontation unfolded.
