Sañjaya said: When Draupadī (Kṛṣṇā) was brought into the royal assembly, her question was left unanswered; and by him—together with his son—she was treated with disregard. In that moment, the helpless queen was striving to ward off the condition of slavery being imposed upon her.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical failure of ignoring a righteous question in a public forum: silence and indifference in the face of injustice become a form of participation in wrongdoing, especially when a vulnerable person is being pushed into servitude.

Sañjaya recalls the episode of Draupadī being brought into the assembly and raising a decisive question about her status; those responsible, along with a son, disregard her and do not answer, while she struggles to prevent being treated as a slave.
