Sañjaya said: “Dhṛṣṭadyumna, here there is no other man besides you who can dare to grapple with the Ācārya. Therefore, swiftly strive first and foremost for his slaying. The entire burden of this has been placed upon you.” Thus addressed, the mighty-armed Dhṛṣṭadyumna sprang forward and quickly took up his firm, excellent weapon—his bow—capable of bearing every strain.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights concentrated responsibility in dharma under crisis: when a task is judged necessary for the larger cause, it is entrusted to the one person deemed capable, and that person must act with resolve while bearing the moral weight of the deed.

Sañjaya reports that Dhṛṣṭadyumna is urged to confront and kill Droṇa because no other warrior is considered able to face him effectively; Dhṛṣṭadyumna then rushes forward and takes up his strong, excellent bow to undertake that charge.
