Educational Q&A

The verse highlights a warrior’s inability to tolerate an opponent’s dominance, leading to intensified violence. Ethically, it points to how anger and wounded pride can drive escalation in war, even while remaining within the outward frame of kṣatriya combat.

Sañjaya reports that Karṇa, provoked and unable to endure Bhīma’s display, directly engages him. Karṇa attacks with dense volleys of arrows and multiple weapons, indicating a fierce, close contest on the battlefield.
