In a righteous war context, a warrior must act decisively to protect allies and maintain order; restraining the enemy’s advance is presented as a concrete expression of kṣatriya-duty and responsibility.
Sañjaya reports that a mighty-armed warrior issues a direct battlefield order to Bhīma: to block or check the Kaurava (Dhārtarāṣṭra) army’s movement, indicating an urgent tactical moment in the fighting.
