Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the kṣatriya ideal of exerting one’s utmost capacity in a righteous duty-bound role: Karṇa is portrayed as doing ‘what is possible by his means’ in battle—an ethic of effort, resolve, and responsibility amid crisis.

Sañjaya points out to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Karṇa has directly engaged Ghaṭotkaca (son of Haiḍimba) and is showing formidable valor on the battlefield, striving to the fullest extent he can.
