Sañjaya said: “He appeared terrifying—his tongue and lips were long and copper-red; his eyebrows were heavy and prominent; his nose was thick; his complexion was dark; his neck was ruddy; and his body was massive like a mountain.”

The verse is primarily descriptive rather than doctrinal: it uses vivid physical imagery to convey the terror and moral darkness of war, reminding the listener that violence deforms the human world into something fearsome and inhuman.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, describing a formidable, frightening figure on the battlefield by detailing his striking features—copper-red lips and tongue, heavy eyebrows, thick nose, dark complexion, red neck, and a mountain-like body.
