Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how attachment and the urge to please one’s own (priyārtha) can intensify violence and override ethical restraint, turning conflict into a ruthless struggle between factions.

Sañjaya reports that, motivated to benefit Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons, a warrior intends to destroy the Pāṇḍavas; as a result, a fierce engagement erupts between the Kaurava forces and their opponents.
