शतानीकस्ततो दृष्टवा भ्रातरं हतवाहनम् | रथेनाभ्यपतत् तूर्ण सर्वलोकस्य पश्यत:,तत्पश्चात् शतानीक अपने भाईके वाहनको नष्ट हुआ देख सब लोगोंके देखते-देखते शीघ्र ही रथके द्वारा उनके पास आ पहुँचे
śatānīkas tato dṛṣṭvā bhrātaraṁ hata-vāhanam | rathenābhyapatat tūrṇaṁ sarva-lokasya paśyataḥ ||
Sañjaya said: Then Śatānīka, seeing his brother’s mount and chariot destroyed, rushed swiftly toward him in his own chariot—before the eyes of all the warriors.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights kṣatriya battlefield values: loyalty to kin, readiness to intervene when a comrade is disabled, and public accountability—actions are performed ‘in the sight of all,’ binding one to honor and duty.
Śatānīka sees that his brother’s chariot/mount has been destroyed and immediately drives his own chariot swiftly toward him, with the entire host witnessing the move—suggesting an urgent attempt to protect, rescue, or continue the fight on his brother’s behalf.
