ते वध्यमाना: पञ्चाला: समरे सह सृञ्जयै:
te vadhyamānāḥ pañcālāḥ samare saha sṛñjayaiḥ
Sañjaya said: The Pāñcālas, being cut down in the battle along with the Sṛñjayas, were slain amid the clash of arms—an image of war’s relentless momentum, where entire allied hosts are swept into destruction.

The verse underscores the impersonal, sweeping nature of warfare: allied groups are collectively engulfed in killing, reminding the reader of war’s ethical gravity and the tragic cost borne by entire communities rather than isolated individuals.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the Pāñcāla forces, together with the Sṛñjayas, are being slain in the ongoing battle—indicating a severe turn in the fighting against the Pāṇḍava-aligned troops.
