Sañjaya said: In the very forefront of the battle, those two charged at Bhīma—like Varuṇa and Mitra together assailing Tāraka, foremost among the Dānavas.

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how war magnifies both courage and peril: coordinated strength can overwhelm even a mighty foe, yet the grandeur of such power is framed through a divine simile, reminding the listener that human conflict is often narrated in cosmic terms—raising ethical reflection on force, alliance, and the costs of battle.

Sañjaya describes two brothers charging together at Bhīma at the very front of the battlefield, comparing their joint assault to the gods Varuṇa and Mitra attacking the demon Tāraka.
