Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the paradox of righteous warfare: warriors act with fearlessness and fulfill martial duty, yet the action consists of mutually killing and ‘sending to the next world,’ pointing to the grave ethical weight and tragic inevitability of violence in war.

Sañjaya describes the ongoing battle scene: fighters roam the field boldly and strike one another with arrows, spears, and axes, resulting in deaths on both sides.
