The verse highlights the inexorable momentum of war: valor and enmity draw warriors into direct encounter. Ethically, it underscores the kṣatriya frame of duty and the grave seriousness of choosing conflict, where meeting the enemy becomes both a test of courage and a consequence of prior decisions.
Sañjaya reports that two Kaurava champions come face-to-face on the battlefield and engage one another, setting up or continuing a duel within the larger fighting of the Droṇa Parva.
