2: बछ। सं: पजञज्चाशर्दाधिकशततमोब् ध्याय: व्याकुल हुए दुर्योधनका खेद प्रकट करते हुए द्रोणाचार्यको उपालम्भ देना संजय उवाच सैन्धवे निहते राजन्‌ पुत्रस्तव सुयोधन: । अश्रुपूर्णमुखो दीनो निरुत्साहो द्विषज्जये,संजय कहते हैं--राजन्‌! सिंधुराज जयद्रथके मारे जानेपर आपका पुत्र दुर्योधन बहुत दुःखी हो गया। उसके मुँहपर आँसुओंकी धारा बहने लगी। शत्रुओंको जीतनेका उसका सारा उत्साह जाता रहा

sañjaya uvāca | saindhave nihate rājan putras tava suyodhanaḥ | aśrupūrṇamukho dīno nirutsāho dviṣajjaye ||

Sañjaya said: “O King, when the lord of Sindhu (Jayadratha) had been slain, your son Suyodhana (Duryodhana) became overwhelmed with grief. His face was filled with tears; dejected and dispirited, he lost the drive with which he sought victory over his foes.”
