नभो<भवत् तद् दुष्प्रेक्ष्ममुल्काभिरिव संवृतम् । धनुषको कानतक खींचकर छोड़े गये अग्निशिखा तथा सूर्यकिरणोंके समान तेजस्वी बाणोंसे भरा हुआ आकाश उल्काओंसे व्याप्त-सा जान पड़ता था। उसकी ओर देखना कठिन हो रहा था,तथैव च महाबाहुस्त्वदीयान् पाण्डुनन्दन: । गाढं विद्ध्वा शरै राजन् जयद्रथमुपाद्रवत् राजन्! इसी प्रकार महाबाहु पाण्डुनन्दन अर्जुनने आपके अन्य सैनिकोंको भी बाणोंद्वारा गहरी चोट पहुँचाकर जयद्रथपर धावा किया

nabho 'bhavat tad duṣprekṣyam ulkābhir iva saṃvṛtam |
tathaiva ca mahābāhus tvadīyān pāṇḍunandanaḥ |
gāḍhaṃ viddhvā śarai rājann jayadratham upādravat ||
Sañjaya said: The sky became hard to look upon, as though covered with meteors, packed with blazing arrows released from drawn bows—arrows radiant like tongues of fire and like the rays of the sun. In the same way, O King, the mighty-armed Arjuna, the joy of the Pāṇḍus, having deeply pierced your troops with shafts, surged forward to assail Jayadratha.
संजय उवाच
