द्रोणकर्णयोः निशि संप्रहारः — Night Engagement with Droṇa and Karṇa
अद्य युद्ध कुरुश्रेष्ठ मम पार्थस्य चोभयो:
adya yuddha kuruśreṣṭha mama pārthasya cobhayoḥ

संजय उवाच
The line underscores the inevitability of conflict once opposing duties and loyalties harden into two camps; it frames war as a collective ordeal borne by both sides, inviting reflection on responsibility and the ethical weight of choosing battle.
Sañjaya, reporting events to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, announces that on this day the fighting will proceed for both parties—his own (the Kaurava side) and Pārtha’s (the Pāṇḍava side led by Arjuna).
