Educational Q&A

True protectors are defined not merely by power or wealth, but by restraint and character: they have means (arthavantaḥ) without pride (na cotsiktāḥ), and their reliability rests on brahminical virtue and truthfulness (brāhmaṇyāḥ satyavādinaḥ).

Sañjaya is describing the kind of men who can serve as dependable guardians in a time of danger—emphasizing their capacity, humility, and moral credibility—within the larger war-reporting frame of the Droṇa Parva.
