Sañjaya said: O Bhārata, the clash between those two was of such a kind that no other battle like it had ever occurred. O delight of the Bharatas, all the warriors—both on your side and on the enemy’s—could only stand and watch those two heroes, radiant in the splendor of combat.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the extraordinary intensity and skill of a duel so compelling that even seasoned warriors become mere witnesses. Ethically, it underscores how martial excellence can command universal attention, momentarily suspending factional hostility in shared recognition of valor.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that two principal fighters are engaged in an unparalleled close combat. The warriors of both armies stop to watch, struck by the brilliance and ferocity of the encounter.
