Adhyāya 141 — Night duels: Śaineya and Bhūriśravas; Droṇi and Ghaṭotkaca; Bhīma and Duryodhana
tathā saptadaśaṁ vegād aṣṭādaśam athāpi vā | bahūni bhīmaś chittvā karṇasyaivaṁ dhanūṁṣi hi ||
Sañjaya said: In the same way, with swift force, Bhīma cut down Karṇa’s seventeenth bow, then the eighteenth as well—and indeed many more. The scene showed the battle’s relentless momentum: skill and resolve again and again shattered an opponent’s means of resistance, even as both warriors persisted in the duty they had chosen as kṣatriyas.
