Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the harsh dharma of warfare: personal reverence (for a teacher like Droṇa) does not erase the immediate obligation to protect one’s side and respond to a lethal threat. Leadership is shown through Yudhiṣṭhira’s role in directing collective action under pressure.

Droṇa, as a formidable commander, is intimidating multiple troop-divisions with his battle-cries and aggression. In response, warriors led by Yudhiṣṭhira converge and charge him from all directions, attempting to check his advance and protect their formations.
