Duryodhana’s Appeal to Karna — The Kripa–Karna Dialogue
tato bāṇamayaṃ jālaṃ bhīmasenarathaṃ prati | karṇena vihitaṃ rājan nimeṣārdhād adṛśyata ||
Then, O King, a net as it were made wholly of arrows—devised by Karṇa—was seen to be cast against Bhīmasena’s chariot, appearing in less than half a blink.
The verse highlights how swiftly and decisively power can be exercised in war; it implicitly invites reflection on kṣatriya-dharma—skill and courage are praised, yet the use of such force carries ethical gravity because it is directed toward harm.
Karṇa launches an extremely rapid, dense barrage—likened to a net of arrows—aimed at Bhīma’s chariot, and it becomes visible almost instantaneously, within less than half a blink.
