Sañjaya said: “O King, as Bhīmasena, mighty in strength, roared in challenge, the powerful Karṇa too rushed at him, raising a dreadful, tumultuous battle-cry.”
संजय उवाच
The verse reflects the kṣatriya ethos where a warrior answers a challenge without retreat; it underscores how pride, valor, and duty can propel combatants into escalating confrontation, raising the ethical tension between righteous duty and destructive fury.
As Bhīma roars on the battlefield, Karṇa responds with a thunderous cry and charges directly at him, signaling the start or intensification of their clash within the larger war scene narrated by Sañjaya to Dhṛtarāṣṭra.
