Duryodhana–Karna Dialogue on Vyūha-bheda and Daiva
sa tu droṇaṃ mahābāhuḥ śaradhārābhir āhave | adṛśyam akarot tūṛṇaṃ jalado bhāskaraṃ yathā ||
Sañjaya said: Then mighty-armed Sahadeva, in the thick of battle, swiftly poured forth unbroken streams of arrows, making Droṇācārya as though invisible—just as a cloud veils the sun.
The verse highlights the volatility of battlefield fortune: even an eminent figure like Droṇa can be obscured by concentrated effort and strategy. It also reflects the kṣatriya-frame of dharma where warriors pursue their duty with intensity, while recognizing that status and reputation do not guarantee invulnerability.
Sañjaya describes Sahadeva unleashing such dense volleys of arrows that Droṇa is momentarily hidden from view, compared to the sun being covered by a cloud.
