This verse is a colophon rather than a doctrinal statement; its value is structural and ethical-contextual: it frames the war narrative as an organized account where deeds (parākrama) and their consequences are recorded within a dharma-inflected history, reminding the reader that episodes of valor and violence are part of a larger moral chronicle.
The verse signals the end of a chapter within the Droṇa Parva, specifically within the Jayadratha-slaying section and the episode highlighting Droṇa’s prowess. It functions as an editorial closure marking the completion of that adhyāya in the transmitted text.
