Sañjaya said: Seeing those arrows, swiftly released from Droṇa’s bow and rushing toward him, Vṛhatkṣatra at once checked them, cutting them down on the battlefield with an equal number of razor-sharp shafts.

Educational Q&A

In the ethics of kṣatriya warfare, protection and restraint are expressed through disciplined skill: danger is met with alert, proportionate response (countering arrows with arrows), not with uncontrolled fury. Mastery and presence of mind become a form of dharma in the battlefield context.

Droṇa releases a volley of arrows. Vṛhatkṣatra sees them rushing toward him and immediately neutralizes them by shooting an equal number of sharp arrows, cutting the incoming shafts down in the air and preventing harm.
