युधिष्ठिरस्य कृष्णार्जुनादि-समाश्वासनम्
Yudhiṣṭhira’s reassurance and praise of Kṛṣṇa, Arjuna, Bhīma, and Sātyaki
यावद् भीमो महाबाहुर्विगाह्य महतीं चमूम्
yāvad bhīmo mahābāhur vigāhya mahatīṃ camūm
Sañjaya said: “So long as mighty-armed Bhīma, plunging into the vast battle-array…”
संजय उवाच
The verse foregrounds the kṣatriya ideal of fearless engagement in battle: Bhīma’s decisive plunge into the enemy host exemplifies resolve and martial duty, while also reminding the listener that war advances through overwhelming force and escalating consequences.
Sañjaya narrates the battlefield action to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, describing Bhīma—celebrated for immense strength—driving into a large opposing formation. The sentence is incomplete here, functioning as the opening of a longer description of Bhīma’s onslaught.
